The big idea: a modern F1 wheel is a small computer you hold with both hands: a display and about 20–25 controls (typical), the gears on two paddles behind the grips, and a quick-release hub so it comes off the column and the driver can get out. Built mostly of carbon fibre, it weighs about 1.3 kg (commonly cited).
